Communications Workers of America
CWA represents 700,000 workers in private and public sector employment in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico in 1,200 chartered CWA local unions. In 10,000 communities across the United States, CWA members work in telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, education, health care and public service, law enforcement, manufacturing and other fields.
Among CWA major employers are AT&T; Verizon; General Electric; the New York Times and Wall Street Journal; United Airlines and American Airlines; NBC and ABC television networks; the Canadian Broadcasting Co.; the University of California, the state of New Jersey and various law enforcement agencies across the country.
CWA’s Nationally elected officers are President Chris Shelton and Secretary-Treasurer Sara Steffens. Other members on CWA’s executive board, which governs the union between conventions, are: Vice Presidents Dennis Trainor, District 1 (New York); Ed Mooney, District 2-13 (Philadelphia); Richard Honeycutt, District 3 (Atlanta); Linda Hinton, District 4 (Cleveland); Claude Cummings, District 6 (Austin); Brenda Roberts, District 7 (Denver); and Tom Runnion, District 9 (Sacramento).
Also on the Executive Board are the vice presidents of CWA’s sectors and industries and other leaders: Lisa Bolton, Telecommunications & Technologies; Brooks Sunkett, Public, Health Care and Education Workers; Charles Braico, Broadcast and Cable Television Workers Sector; Bernie Lunzer, The Newspaper Guild-CWA; Jim Clark, IUE-CWA Industrial Division; Sara Nelson, Association of Flight Attendants-CWA; Martin O’Hanlon, Director, TNG-SCA Canada; and Dan Wasser, executive officer, Printing and Media Workers Sector. CWA Local 6327 Executive Board
Lisa has been a labor activist since becoming employed by AT&T in 1999. She has served with CWA Local 6327 as steward, chief steward, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and is now elected as President. Lisa was the CWA District 6 interim Benefit representative for a time and is now serving on the District's Benefit committee. She is currently employed as a Service Representative for the AT&T Core Business Sales and Service Center.
Byron L. Hoskins
Byron has been an AT&T/Broadband Tech Care employee since 2015. He worked for AT&T Long Distance in 1995, now known as Legacy T, where after a temporary leave returned to work with DirecTV in 2012. He was a part of the CWA organizing team with DirecTV as the AT&T aquisition began. He served as a Mobilizer, Steward, Chief Steward, Legislative Activist, and is now Vice President for CWA Local 6327. He is a Premier Service Consultant for the AT&T Mobility Broadband Tech Care call center.
Tanya began volunteering and working as a labor activist at the start of her career with Legacy AT&T in 1996. After the start of her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, she volunteered on CWA Local 6327 committees such as the legislative and finance before becoming a union steward in 2004. She was then appointed acting chief steward in 2005 and then subsequently elected as Secretary-Treasurer in 2006. After a brief lay-off due to a departmental closure in 2018, Tanya was once again elected as Secretary-Treasurer in 2020. She is currently a WFH Premier Service Consultant for the AT&T Mobility Consumer Sales & Service Organization.
